Pierre Boulos

Dr. Pierre Boulos has been Chair of the Research Ethics Board at the University of Windsor and has also served as Special Advisor Research Ethics Education and Internationalization. He has been a faculty member in the School of Computer Science at Windsor and, since 2008, he has taught graduate courses in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education in the Faculty of Education and Academic Development. These courses are centered in the University’s internationally (SEDA) accredited University Teaching Certificate. Dr. Boulos holds science and philosophy degrees and a PhD in the History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Western Ontario. His research is focused on Newton and Newton’s own methodological pronouncements regarding scientific success. He has published in Logic, Artificial Intelligence, and a book in computer ethics, Understanding Cyber Ethics in a Cyber World.  Dr. Pierre Boulos is currently the President of the IHPST Group.

 

 

 

Katerina Plakitsi

Katerina Plakitsi is a full professor of Science Education at the University of Ioannina. She has a bachelor in both Physics and Pedagogy, a master’s diploma and a PhD in Science Education. Her main researching interests are Science Education in Early Childhood, Formaland Informal Science Education and Cultural Historical Activity Theory applied in Science Education. She has written many books in Greek and English while she has published in different international academic journals. She is scientific coordinator in many European Projects (www.epoque-project.eu, http://bdfprojects.wixsite.com/mindset) and supervises some PhD in Science Education. She has written many school environmental science textbooks and she coordinates the current science curriculum reform in Greece for the contemporary Education. She founded the Master’s program “Environmental Sciences and Education for Sustainability” in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Biological Applications and Technology at the University of Ioannina. She is also the founder of the ISCAR-STEM Thematic Section and the principal investigator of the @formal and informal science education group (@fise group). She is the editor in chief of the international bilingual journal SCIENCE EDUCATION: RESEARCH AND PRAXIS. She is the Head of the Early Childhood Department at the University of Ioannina. Andrea Woody                                                                                                                                               

  Springer Lecture

 

Andrea Woody is Department Chair and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Washington. She is adjunct faculty in the departments of Dance; History; and Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies. Professor Woody is Editor-in-Chief of Philosophy of Science and a member of the Editorial Board of Foundations of Chemistry. She previously served as Associate Editor of Historical Studies in the Natural Sciences and a member of the organizing committee of the Society for the Philosophy of Science in Practice (SPSP). She received her bachelor's degree, in chemistry, and certification in Theater and Dance, from Princeton and her doctorate, in history & philosophy of science, from the University of Pittsburgh. Her research interests include philosophy of science, history of science, aesthetics, and feminist perspectives in philosophy.
